Blondes

Came across a good blonde joke earlier today.

It was so good, it motivated me to do the following:
Blonde Joke

Unfortunately, I couldn’t start at the root for a few reasons and my technorati API query limit was also hit. But still pretty cool to see. Apparently the Germans really liked the joke. Really interesting to see that element spider out. I’ll have to run it again from a slightly lower point and see what happens.

Thanks to Technorati for their Technorati API that even allowed me to do this in the first place. I initially was going to use Google, but they apparently don’t have an api for their Blogsearch yet. Too bad, Google!

[...] In a humor follow up, the joke I helped continue here has had its heritage researched here and here. [...]

I did a survey by hand yesterday to generate a larger view. My only regret is not recording times.

Awesome! Yea, I didn’t feel like doing it all by hand so I whipped up a script to pull it all from technorati. This joke has apparently been in circulation for >2 years, though, so my dataset is definitely limited.

THE “BEST BLONDE JOKE EVER” MECHANICS

You might come across very soon a post called the best blonde joke ever. Its been quite popular lately and has invaded the Blogosphere. I personnaly like it. You can find it in French here and in English there(also translated

great idea. but i am not able to read the names of the nodes. couldn’t you generate a bigger image? and what would be intersting - what is the oldest entry, who started the chain?

You can find the 3rd update in my gallery.

On the left-hand side of the graph, you will see the numbers 1-10. Right below one is “the blonde joke”, which is the first post of the joke that I could trace back with Technorati. It isn’t really that deep but was good enough for my means. And then each number is another level deep that the joke goes.

Nikolas also used Google to generate a much more complete graph. Mine was mostly an exercise in curiosity and how to use Technorati’s API.

yeah… isn’t it awesome? apparently it’s been around since 2003…. just made my day. -some random person

But how did you know I am blonde?
