As you've probably seen, I'm in the "texting > talking" camp. With SMS, the recipient can respond at their leisure, so I don't feel like I have to worry about interrupting something important just to say "Hey, wanna catch a movie?". It also means I don't have to set aside 5-10 minutes of idle chatter to say the same. Also, I can see what I'm about to send and have the opportunity to think better about it. Helps head off the "foot in mouth" syndrome!

Dodgeball is more than just convenient texting, though. I'm often not feeling up to making plans, but if I see a lot of people are out having fun, I'm a little more inclined to drag myself out into public.
