FoxyProxy
I just started using FoxyProxy about 3 minutes ago and I already love it. As somebody that does a lot of security testing through a variety of proxies as well as tunneling my standard HTTP traffic through my home proxy, I know have a solution to avoid mixing the two. FoxyProxy has the capability to use a proxy based on a regular expression or pattern, so it is now extremely easy to proxy all testing traffic through my HTTP interceptor of choice.

hmm… guess I need to try this out. I like knowing I can rely on you to find great software.

I just found out that OpenSSH has the ability to emulate a SOCKS4/5 proxy. So for my purposes, running an additional proxy server really didin’t make a whole lot of sense. Boy is my face red.

I actually used that whole -D option for the first time ever today. Seems neither Adium nor Trillian like proxying old-school Jabber over an HTTP proxy, but will happily do so over SOCKS.
I still use my HTTP proxy, though, as I make use of adzapper.
