		<description>I actually used that whole -D option for the first time ever today.  Seems neither Adium nor Trillian like proxying old-school Jabber over an HTTP proxy, but will happily do so over SOCKS.  

I still use my HTTP proxy, though, as I make use of &lt;a href="http://adzapper.sourceforge.net/" rel="nofollow"&gt;adzapper&lt;/a&gt;.</description>

		<description>I just found out that OpenSSH has the ability to emulate a SOCKS4/5 proxy. So for my purposes, running an additional proxy server really didin't make a whole lot of sense. Boy is my face red.</description>
